Veteran music composer Anu Malik has celebrated the enduring popularity of the iconic song Dil Ki Tanhai Ko, crediting Shah Rukh Khan’s on-screen performance for taking the track to “a completely different level.”
Marking 30 years of the song, Anu Malik shared a video featuring Shah Rukh Khan on Instagram along with a heartfelt tribute to the actor and the team behind the classic number.
“Dil ki tanhai ko awaaz bana lete hain… Shah Rukh, your expressions took my song to a completely different level. Shah Rukh… kal bhi, aaj bhi, aur kal bhi… forever timeless!” he wrote.
Reflecting on the song’s lasting appeal, the composer also praised filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and singer Kumar Sanu.
“30 years later, and the magic is still going strong. Mahesh Bhatt always had a way of tapping into my innermost emotions and bringing them to life through music. And Sanu Da… What a voice, what a journey, what beautiful memories! Some songs don’t just stay in your playlist… they stay in your heart forever,” he added.
Dil Ki Tanhai Ko featured in the 1996 romantic action film Chaahat, directed by Mahesh Bhatt. Sung by Kumar Sanu and composed by Anu Malik, the film starred Shah Rukh Khan, Pooja Bhatt, Naseeruddin Shah, Ramya Krishnan and Anupam Kher.
Anu Malik and Shah Rukh Khan have collaborated on several successful films over the years, including Baazigar, Baadshah, Asoka and Main Hoon Na, delivering memorable songs that continue to enjoy enduring popularity.
