Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday lauded the achievements of India’s youth in the fields of space technology and science, saying he was “very proud of the youth power of the country” for their growing contributions to national progress.
Addressing the 136th episode of his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat, the Prime Minister highlighted the successful launch of the privately developed Vikram-1 rocket, describing it as a landmark achievement for India’s expanding space sector.
He said the opening up of the space sector to private participation had created new opportunities for young innovators to showcase their talent.
“Last Sunday’s successful launch of Vikram-1 has filled the hearts of every Indian with pride. This is the first rocket developed by the private sector of Viksit Bharat,” PM Modi said, adding that the country’s young innovators had achieved what was once considered unimaginable through skill, passion and perseverance.
The Prime Minister also praised the outstanding performance of Indian students in international Science Olympiads held this month.
He noted that India secured the top rank in the Physics Olympiad, with all five participating students winning gold medals. In the Chemistry Olympiad, every Indian participant also won a gold medal, which he described as the country’s best-ever performance.
PM Modi further highlighted India’s success in the Biology Olympiad, where students won multiple medals, including a gold, and in the Mathematics Olympiad, where the Indian contingent bagged two gold and four silver medals.
Expressing confidence in the country’s young talent, the Prime Minister said he hoped more students would participate in Olympiads and hackathons and continue to bring laurels to India.
