The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Sunday restored normal operations across its network, reopening all Metro stations for passenger entry and exit after temporary security-related restrictions imposed during nationwide protests over the alleged NEET paper leak.
In a post on X, the DMRC announced that all stations on the Delhi Metro network were once again fully operational, marking the end of phased restrictions that had affected several key stations in Central Delhi.
The reopening followed the gradual restoration of services at Janpath, Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House and Central Secretariat stations on Saturday evening.
Earlier, the DMRC had temporarily suspended entry and exit services at 18 Metro stations, including Lok Kalyan Marg, Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk, Ramakrishna Ashram Marg, Barakhambha Road, Supreme Court, Janpath, Mandi House, Central Secretariat, ITO, Delhi Gate, Indraprastha, Khan Market, Jor Bagh, Shivaji Stadium, Jhandewalan and New Delhi, citing heightened security arrangements.
The restrictions were enforced as student protests over the alleged NEET paper leak intensified near Jantar Mantar and other parts of the national capital, with demonstrators demanding action over examination irregularities and accountability from the Union Education Ministry.
The restoration of Metro services came shortly after Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned following the nationwide protests. In announcing his resignation, Pradhan said he was deeply distressed by recent developments and wanted to ensure that anti-national elements did not exploit the situation arising from the examination controversy.
With the latest advisory, Delhi Metro services have resumed normal operations across the National Capital Region, providing relief to thousands of daily commuters.
