Sharad Pawar Says Talks with PM Modi Led to Pradhan’s Exit

Pune, July 25, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) president Sharad Pawar on Saturday said his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to facilitate dialogue between protesting students and the government contributed to the Centre’s decision following the agitation over examination irregularities.

Pawar said he had personally urged the Prime Minister to engage in dialogue, stressing that communication was essential in a democracy. He claimed that the impact of those discussions was reflected in the government’s response.

“This is a massive victory for the unity of the nation’s youth power,” Pawar said, while thanking Opposition MPs for extending support to the students’ movement.

The former Union minister said paper leaks have a serious impact on the future of lakhs of students and praised the patience and determination shown by young protesters during their 28-day agitation at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar.

Pawar said he also spoke with protest leaders and advised them to participate in discussions if the government was willing to engage.

“I advised Prime Minister Modi accordingly, and fortunately, he was ready to engage in discussions. As a result, the outcome of my talks with Narendra Modi is visible today,” he said.

While describing the development as a victory for youth power, Pawar criticised the handling of the protests by authorities, particularly the use of force against demonstrators.

He said the situation could have been managed better if measures such as lathi charges and tear gas had been avoided while dealing with young protesters.

Earlier, in a post on X, Pawar described the student movement over the NEET paper leak issue as an example of democratic strength and said the determination shown by the youth had compelled the government to acknowledge its responsibility.
