Two Indian Nationals Safe, Two Missing After Vessel Hit at Ukraine’s Odesa Port

Kyiv, July 26, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Four Indian nationals were on board a vessel that was struck at Ukraine’s Odesa port on Saturday, with two confirmed safe and information awaited about the remaining two, the Indian Embassy in Ukraine said.

The embassy said search and rescue operations are underway and it is in constant contact with the concerned authorities regarding the incident involving the MV AGN Ragnar.

“Embassy of India in Ukraine is closely monitoring the situation following the incident involving MV AGN Ragnar which was struck at the Port of Odesa on 25 July. Four Indian nationals were on board the vessel. As per the latest information, two have been confirmed safe, and information is awaited regarding the other two nationals,” the embassy said in a statement posted on X.

The incident comes amid a series of attacks involving commercial vessels in the Black Sea region.

Earlier this month, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said an Indian national was killed after a commercial vessel, MV OMORFI, was attacked while transiting the Black Sea, reportedly in Russian territorial waters. Three Indian nationals were among the 10 crew members on board, with two others reported safe.

India had condemned attacks targeting commercial shipping and expressed concern over threats to freedom of navigation and international trade.

Earlier in the week, four Indian nationals were reported killed in an attack on the commercial vessel MV Golden Leopard, which was departing from Odesa port. The MEA had reiterated that attacks on commercial shipping and civilian crew members were unacceptable.

The Indian Embassy in Ukraine said it continues to coordinate with authorities and is monitoring developments related to the latest incident.
