Actress Adah Sharma has extended support to people affected by the devastating floods in Assam, urging citizens to come forward and help families facing severe hardships due to the ongoing crisis.
The ‘Kerala Story’ actress shared a message on Instagram highlighting the impact of the floods, saying thousands of people have been affected, villages have been submerged and many families have been forced to move to relief camps.
Adah asked people to understand the difficulties faced by those who have lost homes, belongings, crops and livelihoods due to rising floodwaters.
“Imagine watching the water rise into your home, carrying your memories, your clothes, your books, your crops, your livelihood, and not knowing what tomorrow will look like,” she wrote, while appealing to people who are in a position to help to contribute through trusted relief organisations.
Sharing images of the flood situation, she said that nearly 900 villages have been submerged and around seven lakh people have been affected, with several families taking shelter in relief camps.
She stressed that even small contributions can help provide essential support, including food, clean drinking water, medicines and shelter for affected families.
Earlier, actress Bhumi Pednekar had also appealed to people to stand in solidarity with those impacted by the Assam floods.
The flood situation in Assam remains critical, with the death toll rising to 62 after 14 more flood-related fatalities were reported in the latest Disaster Reporting and Information Management System (DRIMS) update. The latest deaths included seven in Charaideo, six in Sivasagar and one in Jorhat.
