Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday drew a sharp contrast between India and Pakistan, saying India is advancing through innovation, technology and economic growth, while Pakistan has made terrorism an integral part of its state policy.
Addressing the Kargil Vijay Diwas commemoration at the Kargil War Memorial in Drass, Singh alleged that Pakistan’s military and terrorist organisations now operate in close coordination, asserting that the distinction between the two has effectively disappeared.
Referring to Operation Sindoor, the Defence Minister said India had made it clear that it would no longer differentiate between terrorists and the governments that support them. He said the operation delivered a decisive response to terrorists and those backing them, warning that any attempt to undermine India’s sovereignty would invite a strong retaliation.
Highlighting the contrasting priorities of the two countries, Singh said India is investing in innovation, semiconductor manufacturing, digital infrastructure, space technology and start-up development, while Pakistan continues to promote cross-border terrorism and radicalisation.
“India is designing chips, whereas Pakistan is busy designing terror. India is building a start-up ecosystem, while Pakistan is constructing a terror ecosystem,” he said, adding that India is gaining global recognition for its technological achievements while Pakistan remains engaged in infiltration and proxy warfare.
The Defence Minister also reiterated the Centre’s position on engagement with Pakistan, stating that there would be no broad-based dialogue with the neighbouring country.
“If talks do take place, they will focus solely on Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), an integral part of India that Pakistan has illegally occupied,” Singh said.
His remarks came during the commemoration of the Kargil War, honouring the sacrifices of Indian soldiers who fought to reclaim strategic positions from Pakistani intruders in 1999.
