Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia on Saturday termed the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan a “major victory” for the country’s youth, saying it marked the outcome of a sustained campaign against alleged paper leaks and examination irregularities.
Congratulating students, teachers and social activist Sonam Wangchuk, Majithia said the resignation reflected the fixing of moral responsibility over the issue. He also extended congratulations to the youth of Punjab, saying their concerns over recruitment and examination controversies deserved similar attention.
Turning his focus to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab, Majithia alleged that the state had witnessed repeated examination controversies since the party assumed office. He claimed recruitment processes, including those for Naib Tehsildar, Junior Engineer and the Baba Farid University Pharmacy Officer posts, had faced allegations of irregularities.
The SAD leader accused AAP leaders Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia of maintaining silence over alleged examination controversies in Punjab despite previously demanding accountability from the Centre on similar issues.
Questioning what he described as the Punjab government’s “double standards”, Majithia said accountability should apply equally to both the Centre and state governments. He alleged that repeated paper leak controversies had jeopardised the future of thousands of job aspirants in Punjab, while no one had accepted moral responsibility.
He said the youth of Punjab would continue to seek answers from the state government over every alleged recruitment and examination irregularity.
