Tesla on Tuesday strengthened its presence in India by opening its first approved body shop in Pune, Maharashtra, while simultaneously launching test drives for the 2026 Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive and Model Y L in the city.
The company said the authorised facility will enhance after-sales support for Tesla owners in Maharashtra by providing access to genuine parts, trained technicians and Tesla-certified collision repair and maintenance services.
According to Tesla, the body shop will offer professional collision repairs, software-aware diagnostics, genuine replacement parts and approved repair processes designed to maintain vehicle safety, performance and reliability while minimising customer downtime.
As part of its expansion, Tesla has also commenced test drives of the 2026 Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive and the Model Y L for customers in Pune and nearby regions. Prospective buyers can book test drives through the company’s official website or customer support channels.
The 2026 Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive is priced at ₹50.89 lakh and offers a WLTP-certified driving range of up to 500 km. The electric SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in 5.9 seconds and provides up to 2,138 litres of cargo space. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in July 2026.
Tesla has also introduced the Model Y L, a three-row, six-seat all-wheel-drive SUV targeted at family buyers. Priced from ₹61.99 lakh, the vehicle delivers a WLTP-certified range of up to 681 km, accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in five seconds, and offers cargo capacity of up to 2,539 litres.
The company said the launch of its first approved body shop and the expansion of test-drive facilities reflect its commitment to improving the ownership experience for customers in India.
Tesla added that Pune’s growing adoption of electric vehicles and its strong industrial ecosystem make the city a strategic market for expanding the company’s sales, service and customer support network.
