The Punjab Government has invited applications from eligible Scheduled Caste graduates for admission to a one-year free Stenography Training Programme for the 2026-27 academic session, offering skill development, financial assistance and enhanced employment opportunities.
Announcing the initiative on Monday, Punjab Minister for Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities Dr. Baljit Kaur said the programme aims to equip Scheduled Caste youth with industry-relevant skills and improve their prospects for employment in both the government and private sectors.
She said the training programme, being conducted by the Department of Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities, will offer 80 seats, including 40 each for Punjabi Stenography and English Stenography. The last date for submission of applications is August 20, 2026.
Dr. Baljit Kaur said the course will provide comprehensive training in stenography along with computer typing skills, preparing candidates for employment in government departments, courts, public sector undertakings and private organisations.
Applications are to be submitted to the Principal, Ambedkar Institute, Sector 60, Phase 3B-2, SAS Nagar (Mohali), by the prescribed deadline. She clarified that incomplete applications or those received after August 20 will not be considered.
The Minister said applicants must belong to the Scheduled Caste category, be permanent residents of Punjab and hold a Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university. Candidates should not be above 30 years of age as on August 20, 2026, while the annual family income must not exceed ₹2.50 lakh. Applications must be accompanied by attested copies of the required educational and supporting documents.
She informed that interviews will be conducted on August 27, 2026, at 10 a.m., and no separate interview call letters will be issued. Candidates will have to qualify the prescribed shorthand and typing proficiency tests, with final selection being made strictly on merit in accordance with the admission procedure.
Selected trainees will receive a monthly stipend of ₹1,500, free hostel accommodation and other institutional facilities during the course.
Dr. Baljit Kaur said the initiative reflects the Punjab Government’s commitment under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to promoting inclusive development by strengthening skill development and creating equal employment opportunities for Scheduled Caste youth.
