Actress Shreya Kalra believes that being repeatedly isolated by fellow contestants ultimately worked to her advantage, helping her secure a place in the finale of the reality show Lock Upp 2.
In the latest episode, contestants at risk of elimination — Akanksha Chamola, Shilpa Shinde and Ram Kapoor — selected Shreya as the second finalist, joining Shivangi Joshi in the finale.
Reflecting on her journey, Shreya questioned why contestants with prior experience in reality shows failed to realise that repeatedly targeting one participant could end up strengthening that person’s position in the competition.
During a conversation with Shilpa Shinde, Shreya said she could understand the approach of contestants like Ram Kapoor and Varun, who lacked reality show experience, but expected better judgment from Yogesh Rawat, who had previously appeared in similar formats.
She remarked that continuously cornering a contestant had only made that contestant stronger in the eyes of viewers and eventually helped her reach the finale.
Shreya also admitted that she had entered the show without high expectations.
“I am not that smart. In the beginning, I only wanted to stay for two weeks,” she said, adding that her fellow contestants’ strategy had unexpectedly benefited her.
As the competition nears its conclusion, the remaining contestants are Shilpa Shinde, Ram Kapoor, Yogesh Rawat, Shreya Kalra and Shivangi Joshi.
The second season of Lock Upp is hosted by Farah Khan and Riteish Deshmukh. The inaugural edition, aired in 2022, was hosted by Kangana Ranaut, with Karan Kundrra serving as the jailor throughout the season. Comedian Munawar Faruqui emerged as the winner of the first season.
This season features 14 contestants, two jailers and a six-week format in which participants must complete tasks to earn in-game currency required for food, supplies and other essential privileges.
Shreya Kalra, who hails from Indore, first gained recognition as a wildcard contestant on MTV Roadies in 2020 as part of Nikhil Chinapa’s team. She has also appeared in the music video Zariya Tu alongside Paras Kalnawat.
