Actress Mrunal Thakur has urged social media users to actively call out online harassment and report accounts involved in sharing AI-generated or non-consensual intimate content, days after warning against the misuse of deepfake technology.
In a post on her official X handle (formerly Twitter), Mrunal asked users to document and share details of accounts engaging in harassment or spreading manipulated intimate content created using artificial intelligence.
“Let’s build a little Hall of Fame for the internet’s finest minds. Girls and boys, if you spot an account harassing anyone or sharing AI-generated or non-consensual intimate images, tag it below. Documentation is a beautiful thing,” she wrote.
The actress had earlier issued a warning against the creation and circulation of deepfake content using her identity, stating that such actions were illegal and would invite legal consequences.
“Creating or sharing deepfake content using my likeness is illegal and unacceptable. Consider this your formal notice to stop immediately. Any further misuse of my identity will result in legal action,” Mrunal said in a social media note.
Her latest appeal comes amid growing concerns over the misuse of artificial intelligence tools to create manipulated images and videos of individuals without consent.
On the professional front, Mrunal was last seen in David Dhawan’s comedy film “Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai”, which also stars Varun Dhawan and Pooja Hegde.
She is set to appear next in filmmaker Atlee’s upcoming drama “Raaka”, featuring Allu Arjun and Deepika Padukone in lead roles. The project marks Deepika’s first on-screen collaboration with Allu Arjun.
The makers recently unveiled the first look of Allu Arjun from “Raaka”, showing the actor in an intense bald avatar with his face partially covered by a wolf-like claw.
