Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, known for his ability to stay connected with changing trends and contemporary expressions, recently came across a new-age term during the shoot of the upcoming season of the quiz reality show Kaun Banega Crorepati.
In a newly released promo ahead of the show’s August 10 premiere, the veteran actor-host appeared amused after noticing that a contestant had mentioned his occupation as “biwi paglu”.
Reacting to the unusual description, Amitabh Bachchan jokingly said, “Biwi paglu, occupation biwi paglu, hum sochein ki aap Labour Ministry mein kaam kar rahe hain, idhar toh occupation aa raha hai biwi paglu.”
(“Biwi paglu? Occupation: Biwi paglu? I thought you worked in the Labour Ministry, but here your occupation is listed as ‘biwi paglu’.”)
The contestant responded humorously, saying, “Sir, aadmi sirf apni biwi ki naukri karta hai.”
(“Sir, every husband ultimately works for his wife.”)
Joining the playful conversation, Amitabh Bachchan agreed with the sentiment and added, “Yeh sahi baat hai, woh malkin hai, aur har pati ko maan lena chahiye. Aise hi rahoge toh jeevit rahoge warna nikaal diye jaaoge.”
(“That’s absolutely right. She is the boss, and every husband should accept it. Live like this and you will survive, otherwise you will be fired.”)
The promo has added to the excitement around the return of Kaun Banega Crorepati, with the 18th season set to premiere on August 10. Amitabh Bachchan will once again take the host’s seat for the iconic quiz-based reality show.
