The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has expressed deep grief over the demise of veteran actor Pradeep Rawat, who passed away on Tuesday at the age of 74 following a prolonged illness.
In a condolence message, AICWA remembered Rawat as an accomplished actor whose commanding screen presence and memorable performances earned him a lasting place in Indian cinema.
“With his powerful screen presence, he portrayed some of the most unforgettable villainous characters alongside many of Bollywood’s legendary actors and comedians. His remarkable performances and immense contribution to Indian cinema will always be remembered and cherished by generations of film lovers. The news of his demise has sent shockwaves across the Bollywood film industry. It is truly heartbreaking to lose such a talented and respected artiste,” the association said.
Extending sympathies to the bereaved family, AICWA added, “On behalf of the All Indian Cine Workers Association, we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and countless admirers during this difficult time. May God grant eternal peace to his noble soul and give strength and courage to his loved ones to bear this irreparable loss. Rest in peace, Pradeep Rawat Ji. Your legacy will live on forever.”
Pradeep Rawat breathed his last on Tuesday evening at a hospital in Bhiwandi.
Born on January 21, 1952, Rawat built an illustrious career across Hindi, Telugu and Tamil cinema, becoming one of the industry’s most recognised screen villains. He was widely appreciated for his performances in films such as ‘Lagaan’ and ‘Ghajini’, while his portrayal of Ashwatthama in B.R. Chopra’s iconic television series ‘Mahabharat’ also remains one of his memorable performances.
Over the course of a career spanning several decades, Rawat carved a niche for himself with his intense performances, leaving behind a rich cinematic legacy that continues to inspire audiences and filmmakers alike.
