Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat will interact with Gen Z and Gen Alpha participants at the International Movement to Unite Nations (IIMUN) annual championship conference in Mumbai on August 6, organisers announced on Tuesday.
According to IIMUN founder Rishabh Shah, Bhagwat will address more than 2,000 students aged 15 to 19 from over 100 cities during the inaugural session at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC). The conference, marking IIMUN’s 15th anniversary, will focus on the theme, ‘The Role of Youth in Uniting the World, the Indian Way’.
Shah said IIMUN has spent the past 15 years working to develop leadership among young people by helping them understand India’s values and its vision of global unity. He claimed that around 30,000 students have actively worked with the organisation, while its programmes have reached an estimated 7 to 7.5 crore people.
He noted that this would be Bhagwat’s third interaction with IIMUN participants and stressed that young people should study institutions with diverse ideological backgrounds, including the RSS and the Indian National Congress, to gain a broader understanding of public life.
The conference will also be attended by actor Shabana Azmi, actor Boman Irani and former Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chandrachud.
Commenting on recent protests over alleged examination irregularities and paper leaks, Shah said the concerns raised by students deserved serious attention regardless of political affiliations.
He emphasised the need to strengthen India’s education system while urging protesters to maintain civility in public discourse. Shah also attributed growing frustration among young people to the prevailing social and political environment, as well as the influence of sections of the entertainment industry and social media.
