Punjab Assembly Passes Resolution Hailing Mann Govt for 68,228 Merit-Based Jobs, ₹1.83 Lakh-Cr Investment Proposals

Chandigarh, August 5, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

The Punjab Vidhan Sabha on Wednesday passed a resolution appreciating the Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Punjab Government for providing 68,228 government jobs through a merit-based recruitment process and attracting investment proposals worth ₹1.83 lakh crore aimed at boosting employment in the state.

The resolution, moved by AAP MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, commended the government’s efforts to ensure transparency in public recruitment and promote industrial growth through large-scale private investments.

Participating in the discussion, Dhaliwal said the state government has replaced the alleged culture of political patronage, recommendations and corruption in government recruitment with a transparent, merit-based system, restoring the confidence of Punjab’s youth.

According to the resolution, the Punjab Government has provided 68,228 government jobs since April 1, 2022, through a recruitment process based on merit and transparency.

The resolution stated that the largest recruitments were made in the School Education Department, where 16,316 appointments were made, followed by 14,723 recruitments in the Home Affairs Department, 8,706 in the Power Department, 5,681 in the Local Government Department and 4,758 in the Health and Family Welfare Department. It added that thousands of appointments were also made in departments including Revenue, Medical Education, Water Resources and Agriculture.

Highlighting industrial development, the resolution said Punjab received 9,899 investment proposals worth ₹1,83,837 crore between March 16, 2022, and July 31, 2026. These proposed investments are expected to generate approximately 6,16,436 employment opportunities across the state.

It further noted that several leading national and international companies, including Tata Steel, HMEL Organics, SAEL Solar, Ambuja Cements, Happy Forgings, Vardhman Special Steels and Nestlé India, have proposed expansion and investment projects in Punjab across sectors such as manufacturing, steel, renewable energy, pharmaceuticals, food processing, information technology, healthcare, logistics and education.

Dhaliwal said the government’s focus on transparent governance, industrial growth and employment generation is creating new opportunities for Punjab’s youth while helping address the trend of migration abroad in search of jobs.
