Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu has directed the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to enrol 750 new lifetime members at the historic Roshanara Club, with the membership window set to open on August 28 and remain available until October 27, an official said on Tuesday.
The membership drive is part of the Lieutenant Governor’s emphasis on making sports and recreational facilities more accessible to Delhi residents, promoting an active lifestyle and improving the overall quality of life under the broader objective of “Ease of Living”.
Of the 750 memberships on offer, 400 will be available under the non-government category at a membership fee of Rs 12.50 lakh plus GST. Another 350 memberships will be offered to the Government/PSU category at Rs 4 lakh plus GST.
Registration will open at midnight on August 28 and close at 11.59 p.m. on October 27. Applicants can register and complete the payment process through the DDA Roshanara Club Membership registration portal.
Spread across 22 acres of green surroundings, the DDA Roshanara Club has a sporting legacy dating back more than a century. The club is associated with the early history of Indian cricket and is recognised as the birthplace of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
The DDA formally took over the club on September 29, 2023.
The lifetime membership programme will provide sports and heritage enthusiasts access to the club’s sporting, fitness, recreational and social facilities. These include outdoor and indoor sports, fitness and wellness activities, swimming, recreational games, dining and social spaces.
The club’s facilities include a main cricket pitch and practice pitches, tennis, squash, basketball, badminton, table tennis and pickleball courts, along with a swimming pool, toddler’s pool, multi-gym, fitness centre and yoga facilities.
The DDA said the membership initiative would also help ensure better utilisation of the club’s extensive sports and recreational infrastructure.
The authority currently operates 18 sports complexes, four mini-sports complexes and three public golf courses across Delhi.
