Television actress Smriti Khanna is set to explore a new genre with the upcoming micro-drama series “They Chose Wrong Enemy”, where she will be seen in an action-oriented role involving sword-fighting sequences.
The actress said the opportunity to perform sword combat for the first time was one of the key reasons that attracted her to the project. In a quote shared with IANS, Smriti revealed that training under a fight master and preparing for an action-packed character made the experience both challenging and exciting.
“They Chose the Wrong Enemy has a very modern concept with AI-driven elements and advanced combat techniques, making it feel ahead of its time. It’s also an adaptation of a hugely successful Chinese drama, so the story is gripping and fast-paced. What excited me the most was getting the opportunity to perform sword-fighting sequences for the first time under the guidance of a fight master,” she said.
Smriti added that the challenge of learning new combat skills encouraged her to become part of the project and expressed confidence that audiences would enjoy the series.
The actress will portray a warrior from Brahmashila, a prestigious Gurukul where exceptional warriors are trained. Describing her character, she said the role is of a courageous and disciplined fighter, with a modern interpretation of a warrior through a powerful costume and distinctive appearance.
Speaking about the difficulties of shooting action scenes, Smriti said sword-fighting was the most challenging aspect as she had never performed such sequences before and had to adapt to handling a heavy sword.
She said the fight master guided her through body posture, movements and combat techniques while ensuring safety during the demanding sequences. Repeating action scenes from different camera angles made the process physically exhausting but also provided a valuable learning experience.
On the growing popularity of micro-drama formats, Smriti said changing audience habits have increased the demand for short-form storytelling.
She said episodes of micro dramas, which are generally around two minutes long, allow viewers to consume complete stories quickly and conveniently. According to her, the limited duration also requires actors to deliver emotions and expressions effectively within a short time frame.
Smriti Khanna is known for her roles in television shows including “Tere Ishq Mein Ghayal”, “Ghar Ki Lakshmi Betiyann” and “Ganesh Leela”. Her upcoming series “They Chose Wrong Enemy”, produced by Gamaa Productions, will stream on Kuku TV.
