Haryana CM Nayab Saini Accuses Congress of Sidelining Former Punjab CM Channi

Chandigarh, August 4, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday alleged that the Congress had sidelined former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi despite his support to the party during difficult times, saying the move reflected the party’s approach towards Dalits and other deprived sections of society.

Addressing the media in Chandigarh, Saini accused the Congress of pursuing “vote-bank politics” and alleged that poor, backward classes and Scheduled Castes had been used by the party only for electoral gains.

Referring to Channi, Saini said a leader who had stood firmly with the Punjab Congress during challenging periods was now being ignored by his own party. “In a way, the Congress has insulted Dalits and other deprived sections of society,” he said.

The Haryana Chief Minister also responded to questions related to the NEET paper leak issue, claiming that the Union government had taken strict action while accusing the Congress and INDIA bloc parties of misleading young people on the matter.

Saini said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had worked for the welfare of all sections of society and had prioritised protecting the future of the country’s youth. He added that the Centre had introduced stringent laws against examination irregularities, taken action against those involved and worked towards making recruitment processes transparent.

“PM Modi treated the issue with utmost seriousness and made it clear that anyone attempting to jeopardise the future of the country’s youth would not be spared,” Saini said.

He alleged that recruitment systems during previous Congress governments lacked transparency and claimed that candidates often faced difficulties while appearing for examinations. He said paper leaks during earlier periods had affected the future of young aspirants without adequate accountability.

Saini said people had now understood the politics of the Congress and INDIA alliance and would not be misled by their claims.

Reacting to the Punjab Assembly’s resolution on paper leaks, the Haryana Chief Minister questioned whether the state government had passed a similar resolution over the recent pharmacy examination paper leak in Punjab.

Referring to recently announced recruitment examination results in Punjab, Saini said questions raised over the names of some selected candidates reflected concerns among youth regarding the fairness of the recruitment process.

He said the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party should answer questions raised by young people over recruitment examinations.

Saini also recalled AAP leader Manish Sisodia’s earlier statement that Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains would resign if a paper leak occurred in the state, and said the response to recent incidents showed a difference between statements and actions.
