Many Students Missing, False FIRs Registered, Claims Kejriwal as AAP Launches Legal & Medical Aid

New Delhi, July 21, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday announced legal and medical assistance for students affected by the police action during Monday’s protest at Jantar Mantar, while launching a sharp attack on the Narendra Modi-led Central Government over the handling of the demonstration.

Addressing a press conference, Kejriwal alleged that peaceful student protesters were subjected to excessive police force and claimed that several students were facing criminal cases while some were allegedly untraceable following the protest.

AAP Announces Helpline for Students

Kejriwal said the AAP had constituted a legal support team and appealed to affected students and their families to contact the party for assistance.

He announced a dedicated helpline number — 8588833548 — and said students requiring legal representation, medical treatment or any other assistance could send a message on the number, following which the party’s team would respond immediately.

“If any student has been booked in a case, arrested, is missing or requires legal or medical assistance, our team will extend every possible help,” he said, adding that the party was prepared to arrange senior lawyers wherever necessary.

Reassuring students and their families, Kejriwal said they should not feel intimidated and asserted that the AAP would stand with them throughout the legal process.

Alleges Excessive Use of Force

Kejriwal alleged that the police used disproportionate force against peaceful protesters at Jantar Mantar.

Referring to videos circulating on social media, he claimed that several showed students pleading with police personnel, while others allegedly depicted police using force against unarmed protesters and firing tear gas despite what he described as peaceful gatherings.

He further alleged that multiple FIRs had been registered against students and claimed that some parents had reported being unable to locate their children after the protest.

Sharp Attack on Prime Minister

During the press conference, Kejriwal launched a strong political attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing the Centre of suppressing democratic protest.

He alleged that the government’s response to the demonstration was unprecedented and criticised what he described as threats of further legal action against participants.

Kejriwal also questioned the police action, referring to videos circulating online that he claimed showed police personnel damaging vehicles and pelting stones. He called for a fair examination of the circumstances surrounding the protest.

Says Children Joined Protest

Responding to questions about his own absence from Monday’s protest, Kejriwal said he had been in Punjab on official engagements but stated that both his children had participated in the demonstration alongside other protesters.

He added that AAP leaders and workers were present at the protest and reiterated the party’s commitment to supporting students.

Questions Government Over Examination Leaks

Kejriwal said the students’ primary demand was to stop repeated examination paper leaks and questioned why the issue had not been effectively addressed.

He alleged that branding protesting students with negative labels was unjustified and maintained that they were raising legitimate concerns about examination integrity and transparency.

The AAP leader reiterated that the party would continue extending legal, medical and other assistance to affected students while pursuing the matter through democratic and legal means.
