Paank, the human rights department of the Baloch National Movement (BNM), has condemned the alleged enforced disappearance of two brothers in Gwadar, accusing Pakistani military forces of forcibly taking them on Saturday.
According to Paank, Sajid Baloch and Akeel Baloch, sons of Muhammad Bakhsh and residents of Sandum village in Kolwah, were working as labourers in the Kantani area of Gwadar. The organisation alleged that the brothers were intercepted by military personnel while travelling back to their hometown and forcibly disappeared.
Their whereabouts remain unknown, Paank said in a statement posted on X.
The organisation described enforced disappearance as a serious violation of international human rights law, saying such cases place victims outside the protection of the law and expose them to the risk of torture and other abuses.
“Paank holds the state authorities fully responsible for the safety and physical and psychological well-being of both brothers,” the statement said, calling for their immediate and safe release and an end to enforced disappearances across Balochistan.
Paank also raised concerns over the alleged disappearance of another pair of brothers, Mehraj Baloch and Irshad Baloch, sons of Hasil, who were allegedly taken by Pakistani security forces during a raid in the Bhan area of Turbat on August 18.
The rights organisation said security forces conducted searches of homes and allegedly harassed residents before taking the two brothers away. Mehraj and Irshad, originally from Patok village in Dasht, had relocated to Turbat and were living there when they were allegedly abducted.
Paank described the case as particularly concerning because both men had allegedly been subjected to enforced disappearance in the past.
According to the organisation, Mehraj spent more than a year in detention before being released, while Irshad had also previously been forcibly disappeared.
“The repeated targeting of the same individuals reflects a disturbing pattern of abuse and a complete disregard for fundamental human rights and the rule of law,” Paank said.
The allegations could not be independently verified.
