India’s smartphone market is increasingly moving beyond traditional specification-led buying decisions, with consumers paying greater attention to the overall experience a device delivers. Growing consumption of streaming content, mobile gaming, social media and video calls is making display quality a more important consideration alongside battery life and performance.
According to the Smartphone Insights Report 2026 by Flipkart and Counterpoint Research, 45 per cent of consumers associate chipsets with enhanced display capabilities such as colour accuracy and responsive touch, indicating that processing power is increasingly being linked to the visual and interactive experience.
Consumers are consequently looking more closely at resolution, refresh rate, brightness and colour reproduction. The shift reflects a broader move towards experience-driven smartphone upgrades, where different hardware components are expected to work together seamlessly.
The evolution of realme’s P Series reflects this trend. Developed for young, online-first consumers seeking a balance between design, performance and value, the lineup has progressively focused on delivering more immersive everyday experiences.
The realme P1 Series combined performance with design, while the P2 Series brought further improvements in display and build quality. The P3 Series subsequently crossed three million units in global shipments. The company says the P Series was the fastest-growing smartphone lineup on Flipkart in the first half of 2026.
The upcoming realme P4s 5G, scheduled to launch on August 26 on Flipkart and realme.com, continues this display-focused approach.
The smartphone features a 17.22-cm (6.78-inch) Samsung 1.5K AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, using Samsung Display’s M14 luminescent material. realme claims the panel delivers 26 per cent higher luminous efficiency and up to 50 per cent longer screen life compared with conventional AMOLED panels.
The display supports 1,400 nits of global peak brightness and up to 6,500 nits of local peak brightness for HDR content. It also supports HDR10+ and Netflix HDR at its native 1.5K resolution.
Gaming responsiveness is another focus. The 144Hz refresh rate is complemented by a claimed 3,000Hz instantaneous touch sampling rate. The device combines realme’s Hyper Vision+ AI Chip with the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultra, with AI-powered frame interpolation designed to improve motion smoothness, effective frame rates and HDR visuals during gaming.
For prolonged use, the display carries TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light certification and supports full-brightness DC dimming, aimed at reducing flicker across brightness levels.
With its combination of AMOLED technology, high brightness, HDR support, fast refresh rate and eye-care features, the realme P4s 5G highlights the growing importance of display quality in how consumers evaluate smartphones — particularly for gaming, streaming and everyday content consumption.
