Megastar Chiranjeevi has called on the Telugu film fraternity to unite against the misuse of artificial intelligence (AI) to create and circulate degrading, morphed videos, following the circulation of an altered version of the song Chuttamalle from the film Devara on social media.
Expressing deep concern over the incident, the actor said such abuse was not limited to one individual or film and could affect anyone. He described the creation of degrading AI-generated videos of women as cruel, shameful and unacceptable, stressing that those responsible must be held accountable under the law.
Chiranjeevi said he would take up the matter with the Telugu Film Chamber, the Producers’ Council and other affiliated industry bodies. He also proposed setting up a dedicated committee and support cell to assist victims, coordinate the removal of abusive content and pursue legal action in collaboration with cybercrime authorities.
“This is not an issue concerning just one individual or one film. Today, it has happened to someone else. Tomorrow, it could happen to you, me or anyone we know,” he said in a post on X.
The Indira actor urged the entire Telugu film industry, including artists, technicians, associations, audiences and fans, to work together to address the problem. He also called on the Central and State governments to introduce strong and effective measures to prevent the misuse of AI for such abuse.
Chiranjeevi emphasised that such content should not be dismissed as a joke or entertainment, adding that both those who create it and those who deliberately spread or amplify it must face legal accountability.
He also appealed to social media users not to watch, download, share or circulate such videos, even to condemn them, and instead report them to the respective platforms and cybercrime authorities.
“Protecting human dignity is our collective responsibility. Let us stand together, speak up and act,” he said.
