Rajya Sabha members Raghav Chadha and Swati Maliwal are among the prominent parliamentarians nominated to newly reconstituted Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committees for 2026-27, with Chadha named to the Committee on External Affairs and Maliwal to the Committee on Education, Women, Children, Youth and Sports.
The committees have been reconstituted with effect from September 26, 2026. According to a Rajya Sabha Parliamentary Bulletin, several new chairpersons have also been appointed to key panels, while a number of existing chairpersons have retained their positions.
BJP leader Nishikant Dubey continues as chairman of the Committee on Communications and Information Technology, while Sandeep Kumar Pathak has been included in the Committee on Housing and Urban Affairs.
Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra have been nominated to the Committees on Defence and Home Affairs, respectively. Congress leader Pawan Khera has also been included in the Defence Committee.
Among the new chairperson appointments, BJP’s Sudhanshu Trivedi will head the Committee on Commerce, replacing Trinamool Congress leader Dola Sen. BJP MP Sujeet Kumar has been appointed chairman of the Committee on Personnel, Public Grievances, Law and Justice.
Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar of the NCPI will chair the Committee on Chemicals and Fertilisers, while Sudheer Gupta will head the Committee on Railways, succeeding C.M. Ramesh. Radha Mohan Singh has been named chairman of the Committee on Defence, DMK leader Tiruchi Siva will lead the Committee on Industry, and Bhartruhari Mahtab will chair the Committee on Finance.
Several other committees will continue under their existing chairpersons. Congress leader Shashi Tharoor retains the chairmanship of the Committee on External Affairs, while Charanjit Singh Channi continues to head the Committee on Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Food Processing.
Mukul Wasnik remains chairman of the Committee on Education, Women, Children, Youth and Sports, while Samajwadi Party leader Ram Gopal Yadav continues to head the Committee on Health and Family Welfare. Saptagiri Sankar Ulaka retains the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Committee, and Rajiv Pratap Rudy continues as chairman of the Committee on Water Resources.
Sanjay Kumar Jha retains the chairmanship of the Committee on Transport, Tourism and Culture, while Shrirang Appa Chandu Barne continues to head the Committee on Energy. Radha Mohan Das Agrawal remains chairman of the Committee on Home Affairs, Anurag Singh Thakur retains the Committee on Coal, Mines and Steel, Medha Vishram Kulkarni continues to lead the Committee on Science and Technology, Environment, Forests and Climate Change, and Kanimozhi Karunanidhi remains chairperson of the Committee on Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution.
Other appointments include Shashank Mani as chairman of the Committee on Labour, Textiles and Skill Development, Tatkare Sunil Dattatrey as chairman of the Committee on Petroleum and Natural Gas, Magunta Sreenivasulu Reddy as chairman of the Committee on Housing and Urban Affairs, and P.C. Mohan as chairman of the Committee on Social Justice and Empowerment.
The reconstituted committees will examine matters concerning their respective ministries and departments and submit reports to both Houses of Parliament during the 2026-27 term.
