Punjab Police conducted 592 raids at identified locations linked to gangster associates across the state on Saturday, arresting 275 people as part of the ongoing ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign. Police teams also took preventive action against 195 individuals and arrested six proclaimed offenders (POs).
The campaign, aimed at making Punjab a gangster-free state, was launched by Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav on January 20, 2026. Police teams from all districts are carrying out coordinated operations with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab.
On Day 256 of the campaign, police also recovered 16 weapons. With the latest arrests, the total number of people arrested under ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ has reached 75,810 since its launch.
Punjab Police has urged the public to share information about wanted criminals, gangsters and other criminal activities through the Anti-Gangster Helpline at 93946-93946. People can provide information anonymously.
Meanwhile, the police continued its anti-drug campaign, ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’, which entered its 581st day. Police arrested 146 alleged drug smugglers and recovered 11.7 kg of heroin, 672 grams of opium, 80 kg of poppy husk, 1,699 intoxicant pills and ₹15,600 in drug money.
The total number of drug smugglers arrested under the campaign has now reached 81,602.
As part of its de-addiction efforts, Punjab Police also persuaded 29 individuals to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment on Saturday.
