The West Bengal government has carried out a major reshuffle in the West Bengal Police and Kolkata Police, transferring 23 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers in a single order.
Under the latest transfers, Kolkata Police Additional Police Commissioner Devendra Prakash Singh has been posted as Inspector General (IG) of the Intelligence Branch (IB) in North Bengal. Kolkata Police Joint Commissioner (Traffic) Surya Pratap Yadav has been appointed Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the state police’s IB.
Kolkata Police Enforcement Branch Deputy Commissioner Sparsha Nilangi has been posted as Deputy Commissioner of the Detective Department.
According to a notification issued by the state Home (Police) Department, Sudhir Kumar Neelkantam will be the new Additional Commissioner of Kolkata Police. He was earlier serving as IG of the West Bengal Police Special Task Force (STF).
Bholanath Pandey has been appointed Joint Commissioner of Traffic in Kolkata Police. He was earlier DIG of the state police’s IB.
Sukhendu Hira, who was serving as DIG (Security) of the state police, has been transferred as Joint Commissioner (Security) of Kolkata Police.
Neelu Sherpa has been appointed IG of the West Bengal Police Housing & Infrastructure Development Corporation (WBPHIDC), having earlier served as IG of the West Bengal Crime Records Bureau (WBCRB).
Shanka Shubhra Chakraborty, who was IG of the West Bengal Police Home Guard, has been appointed the new IG of the WBCRB.
Debarshi Dutta, formerly DIG of WBPHIDC, has been posted as Joint Commissioner of the Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate.
Nima Narbu Bhutia, earlier Commanding Officer of the 10th Battalion of the West Bengal Armed Police Forces, has been posted as Special Superintendent of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
Dhritiman Sarkar, formerly Special Superintendent of the state IB, has been appointed Special Superintendent of CID in Malda district.
Purnima Sherpa has been appointed Additional Superintendent of Police, Kalimpong, while Abhishek Roy will serve as Additional Superintendent of Police, Birbhum.
Manabendra Das has been appointed Additional Superintendent of Police, Mathabhanga, and Kunal Barnabas will be the new Additional Superintendent of Police, Malda Rural. The latter four officers are from the West Bengal Police Service cadre.
