Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said that his government has introduced a new arrangement to manage the country’s “special conditions,” asserting that intensified economic pressure has failed to achieve the objectives of its adversaries.
In a post on X, Pezeshkian said Iran had been facing mounting economic challenges, but government measures, backed by public support, had prevented its adversaries from achieving their goals in what he described as an “economic war.”
“The enemy’s plan in recent months has been to cut off the country’s vital arteries with the aim of pressuring the noble people of Iran,” Pezeshkian said, adding that the government had taken steps to prevent those objectives from being realised.
His remarks come amid continuing tensions surrounding the conflict and growing economic pressure on Iran. The Iranian President did not provide further details about the new arrangement announced to manage the situation.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump said the conflict with Iran would end “very quickly” and predicted a sharp fall in global oil prices once the war was over.
Speaking to reporters after arriving in Texas and later during a visit to a Peterbilt Motors facility in Denton, Trump portrayed Iran as facing severe military and economic pressure. He cited high inflation, financial difficulties and losses to Iran’s military capabilities as factors shaping the country’s position.
“Iran will very soon be ending one way or the other,” Trump said, claiming that Iran had an inflation rate of 301 per cent and that its military, navy and air force had been defeated.
Trump also predicted that oil prices would “drop like a rock” once the conflict ended, without specifying a timeline for the expected decline.
The contrasting statements from the two leaders reflect their differing assessments of Iran’s economic and military position as the conflict continues.
