Shiromani Akali Dal (Punar Surjit) patron and former Speaker of Punjab Vidhan Sabha, S. Ravi Inder Singh, in a written press statement, has welcomed the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee’s activism regarding the 15 June 2026 Hukamnama of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, calling it a good omen.
He stated that the decision of the Executive Committee has raised hope that in the General House summoned for 27 June 2026, all orders and hukamnamas issued by Sri Akal Takht Sahib after 1999 but never implemented will be placed for approval.
Beginning this process, the first step should be for President Harjinder Singh Dhami to appear before Sri Akal Takht Sahib and apologise for not obeying the December 2 2024 Hukamnama. He was assigned the responsibility of the Akali Dal membership committee, but he quietly withdrew from this responsibility without citing any reasonable cause. He should also apologise for humiliating and removing the Jathedars who pronounced those Hukamnamas.
Furthermore, those who disobeyed the order of Sri Akal Takht Sahib to maintain unity until the 300th centenary celebrations in 1999 should also be exposed before the Panth through the General House. That General House should also seek clarification on the hukamnama regarding rules for appointment and retirement of Jathedars, action against those who violated the orders of not associating with RSS and established political relationships of husband and wife, and the order to start their own channel, which were not obeyed.
The resolution for the complete boycott of those who accepted everything before the Panj Singh Sahibaan and the Sangat on 2 December 2024 and then backtracked should also be passed in that General House. S. Ravi Inder Singh stated that the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee is the working force of Sri Akal Takht Sahib.
After many years, it has recognised its duty and resolved to guard the hukamnamas. If they have truly awakened to protect the maryada, then they must fully implement all the above-mentioned orders. But if they are doing all this only to act as a soldier in carrying out the orders of their general, then this will be yet another black mark on their tenure.
