Actress and classical dancer Sudhaa Chandran has paid an emotional tribute to veteran filmmaker Singeetham Srinivasa Rao, remembering him as her “first guru in films” and acknowledging his significant role in shaping her early acting career.
Sudhaa, who made her Telugu film debut with Mayuri, directed by Singeetham, took to social media to recall the filmmaker’s guidance and influence on her journey as an actress.
“My first guru in films… whenever I win accolades for my acting and technicalities, it’s a big thanks to you, sir,” she wrote, expressing gratitude for his contribution to her career.
Recalling how he nurtured her talent at the beginning of her journey, the Kaahin Kissii Roz actress described herself as “wet clay” that the filmmaker had beautifully moulded.
“I was like a wet clay so beautifully moulded by you,” she added.
Sudhaa also remembered Singeetham as a visionary and a noble soul who was always smiling, expressing her grief over his demise. “It pains my heart to write this for a visionary, a noble soul, ever-smiling… my guru… Singeetham sir,” she said.
Singeetham Srinivasa Rao passed away at the age of 95. Renowned for his innovative storytelling and experimentation across genres, he directed acclaimed films in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi and other Indian languages.
His notable works include Raja Paarvai, Apoorva Sagodharargal, Michael Madana Kama Rajan, Kadhala Kadhala and Little John, among others.
His demise has prompted tributes from several actors and filmmakers, including Vijay Deverakonda, Kamal Haasan, S. S. Rajamouli, Vishnu Manchu, Ravi Teja, Nani and Jr NTR, who have remembered his distinctive creative vision and lasting contribution to Indian cinema.
