An artistic tribute celebrating the spiritual and cultural heritage of Punjab was unveiled before the bust of renowned visionary Dr. M.S. Randhawa at Punjab Arts Council, Kala Bhawan, Chandigarh, on the occasion of World Photography Day 2026.
Titled “Colours of Faith & Bravery: The Spiritual Heritage of Punjab”, the pictorial artwork has been created by Harpreet Sandhu, State Information Commissioner, Punjab. The work is dedicated to Dr. Randhawa and seeks to carry forward his legacy of documenting, preserving and promoting Punjab’s art, culture, nature and heritage.
The unveiling before Dr. Randhawa’s bust was significant as it symbolised a link between his pioneering efforts to preserve Punjab’s cultural identity and the contemporary role of photography and visual art in documenting the state’s living traditions.
Sandhu said the artwork highlights Punjab’s rich spiritual and cultural heritage through photography and visual art while encouraging greater appreciation and preservation of the state’s timeless legacy.
Swaranjit S. Savi, Chairman of the Punjab Arts Council, appreciated the artwork and described the initiative as a noble effort to commemorate World Photography Day and honour Dr. Randhawa’s contribution to Punjab’s cultural landscape.
Justice Jasbir Singh, former Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, congratulated Sandhu for the creative initiative and described the artwork as a meaningful endeavour dedicated to World Photography Day 2026.
Among those present at the unveiling were Justice Jasbir Singh, former Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court; Inderpal Singh, Chief Information Commissioner, Punjab; Harpreet Sandhu, State Information Commissioner, Punjab; Swaranjit S. Savi, Chairman, Punjab Arts Council; Iqbal Singh Sidhu, former IAS officer; photographer Subash Parihar; photographer Narlep Singh; Dr Yog Raj Singh, Vice Chairman, Punjab University, Chandigarh, along with eminent photographers and other prominent personalities.
The artwork was unveiled at Kala Bhawan as part of the World Photography Day observance, paying tribute to Dr. M.S. Randhawa’s enduring contribution to Punjab’s artistic and cultural heritage.
