No Saint Named in SIT Probe So Far: CM Yogi on Ayodhya Case

Lucknow, August 4, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday said that no saint has been found involved in the Ayodhya donation theft case in the preliminary findings of the Special Investigation Team (SIT), while accusing the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Congress of insulting Sanatan Dharma through their remarks and protests over the issue.

Addressing reporters, the Chief Minister said the SIT’s preliminary investigation had not indicated the involvement of any saint in the matter. He added that more than 1,100 employees are engaged in different activities at the Ram Janmabhoomi temple complex and, based on available evidence, only eight individuals have so far been found directly or indirectly connected with the case.

“In this matter, no saint’s involvement has been found anywhere in the preliminary investigation or the preliminary report of the SIT,” Yogi Adityanath said.

He questioned the criticism by Opposition parties, alleging that the SP and Congress had historically opposed the Ram Janmabhoomi movement and Lord Ram.

The Chief Minister said allegations regarding “donation theft” should be understood as a matter related to temple offerings and that the issue was being examined through the legal process.

He said the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust was constituted following the Supreme Court’s directions and that the state government could not interfere unless requested by the trust or directed by the apex court.

Yogi Adityanath said that on the request of the trust, the Uttar Pradesh government constituted an SIT on June 13. The team is headed by a senior officer and includes an Inspector General-rank officer and a Special Secretary-level officer with expertise in financial matters.

The Chief Minister also criticised the conduct of SP and Congress leaders in Parliament, alleging that their remarks against saints amounted to an attack on Sanatan traditions and Indian cultural values.

He further accused the Opposition of disrupting proceedings in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly instead of following parliamentary procedures. He said the Speaker had offered an opportunity for discussion according to rules, but Opposition members allegedly disrupted proceedings and displayed placards.

Referring to Assembly procedures, Yogi said Rule 59 does not allow discussion on matters that are sub judice or pending before a court or commission, though the Speaker may permit discussion in special circumstances if it does not affect an ongoing investigation.

The Chief Minister also criticised Opposition leaders for not attending the Pran Pratishtha ceremony of Ram Lalla at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya in January 2024, saying those who had questioned issues related to faith were now raising concerns over the matter.
