Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has begun preparations for the 18th season of the popular quiz reality show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ (KBC), saying that the real challenge begins as the show moves from rehearsals to production.
The veteran actor shared an update on his personal blog, where he first thanked fans for their warm wishes on the occasion of Guru Purnima. Expressing gratitude towards his followers, Bachchan said he was overwhelmed by the number of messages he received.
“There were so many messages that I couldn’t decide whether to work or reply to them. So, I sincerely seek your forgiveness,” he wrote.
The actor later shared pictures from the sets and revealed that the pre-production work for the upcoming season has been completed. With the final mock sessions over, Bachchan said the production phase and interaction with the audience would now begin.
“…the test starts now… as the final mocks get over and the production and audience takes over,” he wrote.
Referring to the theme of this season’s promotional campaign, the actor added that viewers would have to think harder this time, echoing the show’s message, “Sochna Padega”.
Bachchan is set to return as the host for the 18th edition of KBC, with shooting scheduled to begin from August 1. The new season is scheduled to premiere on Sony Entertainment Television on August 10.
Based on the international format of ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?’, KBC features contestants answering multiple-choice questions with the help of lifelines. Bachchan has hosted every season of the Hindi adaptation except the third season, when Shah Rukh Khan took over as presenter.
Over the years, KBC has remained one of Indian television’s most popular quiz shows, with Bachchan’s association becoming a defining feature of the programme.
