Shiromani Akali Dal Punar Surjit Youth Wing president Gurjit Singh Talwandi on Wednesday appealed to the government and administration to grant parole to Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara so that he can meet his elderly mother, citing humanitarian grounds.
Talwandi, along with other youth wing leaders, visited Village Hawara in Ropar district and met the family of Bandi Singh Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara. The visiting leaders sought blessings from Hawara’s mother and also recited the Mool Mantar collectively on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Talwandi said the matter was not only related to legal procedures but also involved human emotions and compassion. He urged the authorities to consider the age and health condition of Hawara’s mother and allow her an opportunity to meet her son.
He said the Constitution and law should apply equally to everyone and added that no person should be deprived of human consideration indefinitely. Talwandi appealed to the government to adopt a compassionate approach while remaining within the legal framework.
He also urged the Sikh community to pray for the wellbeing of Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara and his family, besides seeking his release.
Several Youth Akali Dal office-bearers were present during the visit, including Navinderpreet Singh Longowal, Master Charanjit Singh Khalsapur, Advocate Ravinder Singh Shahpur, Gursewak Singh Maneyana, Arvinder Singh Chahal, Charanjit Singh Mavi, Satnam Singh Arorewala, Amit Kumar Sethi, Jagjit Singh Kohli, Jagroop Singh and Gurwinder Singh Sukhman.
