Rising Punjab: Suggestions To Solutions Will Prove a Gamechanger For Industry – Sanjeev Arora

SAS Nagar, August 25, 2025 (Yes Punjab News)

Punjab Industry, Commerce, Investment Promotion and Power Minister, Sh. Sanjeev Arora, today said that the Rising Punjab: Suggestions to Solutions initiative will serve as a groundbreaking platform to strengthen and boost Punjab’s industrial growth.

“Starting from Amritsar and covering Jalandhar and Ludhiana, we have now reached Mohali, engaging with industries from Patiala and Ropar as well,” said the Industry Minister. “Our aim is to equip Punjab’s industries with every facility they deserve. We are reaching out directly to them, listening to their concerns, and working to resolve issues on the spot.”

After patiently hearing industry representatives from Mohali, Patiala and Ropar for nearly two hours, the Minister announced the State Government’s plan to set up an independent authority to oversee infrastructure in all focal points and industrial estates across Punjab. This body will address key issues such as sewerage, roads, lighting and other essential facilities, and importantly, it will also include industrialists as members.

Acknowledging the valuable suggestions from industrialists, Arora said Punjab’s focus on ease of doing business over the last three and a half years has already attracted investments worth ₹1.14 lakh crore, creating 4.5 lakh jobs.

He underlined key reforms such as clubbing and de-clubbing of industrial plots to optimize land use, conversion of leasehold plots into freehold, and regular auctions of vacant plots in focal points to further boost investment.

The Minister announced that Mohali will host a three-day Punjab Investment Summit from March 13, 2026, bringing together industrialists, traders, NRIs and global companies to further boost investment in the state.

He emphasized that the Rising Punjab initiative is aimed at addressing industrialists’ concerns in real time, with policies being framed on the basis of their feedback. Arora also directed Industry Department officials to proactively reach out and inform industrialists about government schemes so they can derive maximum benefit.

Responding to issues raised by industrialists, the Minister announced that power sector infrastructure worth ₹5,000 crore is set for upgradation, and both industries and consumers will soon see visible improvements. He assured that transmission losses and frequent shutdowns will be addressed on priority.

Dedicated industry grids and a separate grievance redressal system will also be established to ensure timely resolution of industry-related concerns.

Speaking on easing regulations, the Minister said the government is relaxing building bye-laws and other charges to further boost industry in the state, and these initiatives are expected to be welcomed by industry representatives. He added that the Airport Road will soon be decongested, and the parking challenges can be addressed through maximum adoption of mechanical parking solutions.

On the development of EV car manufacturing units in the state, the Minister said that 1,200 acres of land in Rajpura have already been earmarked for such futuristic initiatives.
He also announced that Mohali will soon have a 10-acre Exhibition-cum-Convention Centre to host large-scale industrial and business events. Additionally, the government plans to remove bank guarantee requirements against exemptions to simplify processes further.

Principal Secretary, Industry and Commerce, K.K. Yadav highlighted the recently launched and successfully implemented Fasttrack Portal, which has infused new enthusiasm among investors. Under this system, every application receives a 45-day approval timeline, after which it is automatically deemed approved if the concerned department takes no action.

Industry Director Surabhi Malik detailed key initiatives, including One-Time Settlement (OTS) schemes, application procedures, and terms for plot restoration. She also explained policies on clubbing and de-clubbing of plots, leasehold-to-freehold conversion, and fragmentation/subdivision, along with their respective fee structures.

Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal reaffirmed the district administration’s commitment to supporting industrialists, inviting them to approach her directly with any concerns. She expressed optimism that the discussions at the event would greatly benefit Punjab’s industrial sector, particularly in Mohali district, including Derabassi and Lalru.

Prominent amongst those present on the occasion included MLA Kuljit Singh Randhawa, Principal Secretary Industry & Commerce K.K. Yadav, Director Surabhi Malik, Punjab Development Commission Member Vaibhav Maheshwari, Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal, Commissioner Corporation Parminder Pal Singh and industrialists from the Mohali, Patiala and Ropar. P.J. Singh of Tynor Industries presented the vote of thanks, appreciating the Punjab Government’s initiatives aimed at transforming the state into a truly industry-friendly destination.
