Punjab Legislative Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan has sought immediate action from Rajasthan Chief Minister and demanded a high-level, impartial probe into the alleged attack on Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) co-convener Ashutosh Ranka and accompanying volunteers in Rampura Kanwarpura in Jaipur district.
According to reports cited by Sandhwan, the CJP volunteers were travelling to inspect infrastructure at local government schools when their vehicles were allegedly intercepted and vandalised. Several people reportedly sustained injuries in the incident.
CJP leaders have alleged that the confrontation involved political opponents and have also raised questions over the response of local police authorities.
Expressing concern over the reported incident, Sandhwan called for the immediate identification and arrest of those responsible, while stressing that political differences must not be settled through violence.
“Disagreements and political differences must be addressed through constructive dialogue and lawful means. Any recourse to physical violence or destruction of property undermines democratic principles,” he said.
The Punjab Assembly Speaker urged the Rajasthan government and law enforcement agencies to undertake a thorough and impartial investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and take action in accordance with law.
Sandhwan also emphasised the need to protect public representatives and political workers and ensure that democratic engagement and public order are not compromised by incidents of political violence.
