Parents Trying to Stop Son’s Suicide Attempt Fall to Death with Him in Maharashtra

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, August 21, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

A tragic attempt by parents to prevent their 18-year-old son from taking his own life ended with all three falling to their deaths from a hill in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district on Friday, police said.

The incident occurred at Khavda Hill, where the teenager, a resident of the Devlai area, reportedly went to the edge of the hill around 10 a.m. and threatened to jump.

Locals, family members and police officials spent nearly three hours trying to persuade him to move away from the edge. Witnesses said the teenager repeatedly refused to step back despite pleas to consider his future and the impact on his parents.

According to eyewitness accounts, the boy’s father initially tried to convince him from below the hill before climbing up during the final 15-20 minutes of the ordeal.

Around 1 p.m., as the teenager moved closer to the edge, his father attempted to grab him. Both lost their balance and fell from the hill.

The teenager’s mother subsequently fell from the cliff in panic, resulting in the deaths of all three.

Police personnel present at the scene had also attempted to persuade the teenager to abandon his plan, but their efforts proved unsuccessful.

Eyewitness Sanjay Jadhav said the parents and others had repeatedly tried to reason with the teenager.

“The parents and others tried very hard to make him understand, but he didn’t listen and kept standing on the edge of the hill. Police officials were also there,” Jadhav said.

He added that the teenager’s mother had repeatedly pleaded with him not to jump.

The incident was captured on video by some tourists and local residents present at the site.
