Jaipur, October 7, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Rajasthan Police have arrested a suspended jailer who was allegedly involved in the unauthorised removal of two women inmates from the Ajmer Women’s Correctional Home and taking them to a private residence, officials said.

The accused, identified as 37-year-old Divya Chaudhary, had allegedly been absconding since a case was registered against her at the Civil Lines Police Station in Ajmer on August 5.

Ajmer District Superintendent of Police Harshvardhan Agarwala said Chaudhary allegedly misused her official position and, along with associates, intimidated prison security personnel before taking the two inmates out of the correctional facility.

One of the inmates, identified as Kiran alias Setha, was serving a life sentence, while the other, Sana, was an undertrial prisoner.

According to the police investigation and technical evidence, the incident occurred on July 12. The then jailer-in-charge, Chaudhary, a resident of Bhilwara, allegedly acted in connivance with fellow female guard Sonia Chaudhary.

Police alleged that the two overruled objections raised by personnel deployed at the main gate and intimidated the on-duty staff before taking the inmates out of the jail.

The investigation further alleged that Divya Chaudhary subsequently took both women to her private residence in ARG City for personal benefit.

A case was registered following a complaint by Mahipal Mangloda, a guard at Ajmer Central Jail. After the case was filed, Chaudhary allegedly left her headquarters without informing the authorities and remained absconding to evade arrest.

Police subsequently used CCTV footage, technical evidence, official records and assistance from the Cyber Cell to trace her.

On October 6, a special team raided a residential flat in Kota district and arrested Chaudhary.

A dedicated team was constituted under the supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police Himanshu Jangid and Circle Officer Shivam Joshi. The operation was led by Civil Lines SHO Shambhu Singh.

The team included ASI Moinuddin, Cyber Cell ASI Ashish, Head Constable Parina Bano, Constable Rishvendra Singh and Cyber Cell Constable Abhay Singh. Police credited the team, particularly Constable Rishvendra Singh, with a significant contribution to the operation.

Police said intensive interrogation of the arrested former jailer is underway. Investigators are also examining the alleged role of other accomplices and the motive behind removing the two inmates from the correctional facility.
