Amritsar, October 8, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Giani Kuldip Singh Gargajj, has strongly condemned the reported attack with bricks and stones on the langar hall of the historic Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Patshahi Dasvin at Alamgir in Ludhiana district and called for strict action against those responsible.

According to information received by the Akal Takht, the gurdwara management, along with local Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) members and Sikh leaders, initiated legal action following the incident. The accused were arrested and sent to jail, while alleged encroachments in the area were also vacated.

Giani Gargajj said the circumstances surrounding the incident raised serious concerns about peace and communal harmony in Punjab. He urged the state government to take immediate cognisance of the matter and ensure that illegal encroachments on land near gurdwaras are not allowed.

The Akal Takht Jathedar also termed the alleged occupation of valuable land by people from outside the area a serious administrative concern and said preventing illegal encroachments was the responsibility of the district administration.

He said a comprehensive report had been sought from the SGPC and directed the committee to correspond with the Ludhiana Deputy Commissioner and Police Commissioner for strict action in the matter.

The SGPC has also been directed to write to the Punjab Chief Secretary to ensure that illegal occupation or establishment of settlements on valuable land near gurdwaras, particularly historic gurdwaras, is prevented across the state.

Giani Gargajj said gurdwaras follow the principle of Sarbat da Bhala and serve Guru ka Langar to all people, including the poor and needy, and that this tradition would continue. At the same time, he said, attacks on such religious institutions would not be tolerated by the Sikh community.

He also expressed concern over the circulation of AI-generated images related to the incident on social media. Describing the practice as inappropriate, he warned that fabricated content and misinformation could disturb the atmosphere in Punjab.

The Jathedar appealed to people, particularly Sikhs, to use technology responsibly and for constructive purposes, and urged them to refrain from creating and circulating fabricated AI-generated images.
