The I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU) North Zone Youth Festival 2026 began at CT Group of Institutions, Shahpur Campus, on Tuesday with the theme ‘Nasha Mukt Rangla Punjab’. The three-day festival, being hosted at CTIEMT, Shahpur Campus from October 7 to 9, has brought together students from more than 20 colleges across the North Zone.
The festival provides students a platform to showcase their talent in music, dance, theatre, literary activities and fine arts while celebrating Punjab’s rich cultural heritage.
The first day featured a wide range of competitions and activities, including Bhangra, Mime, Skit, Classical Dance, Creative Writing in poetry, short story and essay, Poem Recitation, Classical Vocal Solo, Classical Instrumental Solo in percussion and non-percussion categories, Light Vocal Indian, On-the-Spot Painting, On-the-Spot Photography, Clay Modelling and Collage Making.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Deepak Bali, Advisor, Culture & Tourism Department, Punjab and Vice President, Punjab Cricket Association, as the Chief Guest. Sameer Sharma, Assistant Director, Youth Affairs, IKGPTU, and Deepak Shah, Observer, North Zone Youth Festival, were present as special guests.
The ceremony featured a colourful presentation of Punjab’s cultural heritage, followed by the first-day prize distribution. Competitions in music, literary activities, theatre and fine arts will continue during the remaining two days of the festival.
Dr Manbir Singh, Managing Director, CT Group, said youth festivals offer more than a competitive platform, as they help students express themselves, connect with their cultural roots and develop confidence and leadership qualities.
He said the theme ‘Nasha Mukt Rangla Punjab’ carries an important message of directing the energy and potential of young people towards creativity, culture, sports and other positive pursuits.
Harpreet Singh, Vice Chairman, CT Group; Dr Nitin Tandon, Executive Director; Dr Jayaashish Sethi, Campus Director; Er. Davinder Singh, Group Director DSW; and Lt. Tabish Ali Khan, Deputy Director, Student Welfare Department, along with senior officials, faculty members, coordinators and participating students, were also present.
With participation from colleges across the region, the festival is showcasing Punjab’s culture, creativity and youthful talent while promoting the message of a healthy, progressive and drug-free Punjab.
