Punjab Police conducted 563 raids at identified locations linked to associates of gangsters across the state on Wednesday as the ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign entered its 260th day, resulting in the arrest of 230 individuals.
According to the Punjab Police, one weapon was also recovered during the day’s operations, taking the total number of arrests since the campaign was launched to 76,820.
The police also initiated preventive action against 226 individuals and arrested five Proclaimed Offenders (POs) during the statewide operation.
The ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign, aimed at making Punjab free of gangster activity, was launched by Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav on January 20, 2026. Police teams from all districts have been conducting coordinated operations in collaboration with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab.
The Punjab Police has appealed to the public to share information about wanted criminals, gangsters, crime and criminal activities through the Anti-Gangster Helpline at 93946-93946. The helpline allows people to provide information anonymously.
Meanwhile, the police continued its anti-drug campaign, ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’, for the 585th consecutive day.
Police teams arrested 90 alleged drug smugglers during the day’s operations and recovered 340 grams of heroin, 1.2 kg of opium, 398 intoxicant pills and drug money amounting to Rs 10.99 lakh.
With these arrests, the total number of drug smugglers arrested under the campaign has reached 83,049 in 585 days.
As part of its de-addiction efforts, Punjab Police also persuaded 10 individuals to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment on Wednesday.
