Under the second phase of the Gurdwara Reform Movement launched by the Shiromani Akali Dal (Reformed), a large party delegation offered ardas at Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib in Sri Anandpur Sahib on Wednesday, seeking exemplary punishment for those responsible for what the party described as a grave incident at the holy shrine.

The ardas was part of a series initiated by the party at Sri Akal Takht Sahib. The delegation reached Sri Anandpur Sahib under the leadership of Ropar district president Gurmeet Singh Makrauna and Mohali president Jora Singh Chapparchiri.

Speaking to the media, party General Secretary Harbans Singh Kandhola alleged that a conspiracy had been carried out at the sacred premises of Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib with the alleged objective of maligning the character of Singh Sahibans named in the December 2 Hukamnamas.

Kandhola described the alleged incident as an attack on the dignity and independent status of Sri Akal Takht Sahib. He demanded that those responsible should be identified and given exemplary punishment so that, he said, no one would dare to repeat such an act in the future.

He said the party had also prayed before Guru Sahib for those who, according to him, had attempted to undermine the sanctity of the Takhts for political gains.

Kandhola also alleged that the government side was using its spokesperson to make repeated allegations in the media. He said leaders of his party had already met the Chief Minister, Governor and Director General of Police and sought an impartial investigation through a Special Investigation Team (SIT), but no outcome had emerged so far, according to him.

The delegation included Pritam Singh Salomajra, Amarjit Singh Dhillon, Tejpal Singh Sidhu, Jathedar Nirbhai Singh of Chamkaur Sahib, Baba Hardeep Singh of Ropar, Sukhwinder Singh Mundia, Jagwinder Singh Jaggi, president of the Ropar Youth Wing, Harjinder Singh Rangian, Principal Mohan Singh, Rajinder Singh Duggri, Principal Jagdeep Singh Mavi, Bhag Singh of the SC Wing, Mohali, Kulwant Singh Bhurre, Sher Singh Sandhu of Morinda, Gurdarshan Singh Arnoli, Malkit Singh Chhajja, Harjinder Singh Kulgra, Master Jagmohan Singh of Nurpur Bedi, Gurbakhsh Singh Bhullar, Parvinderpal Singh Dholanmajra, Gurcharan Singh Mundia and Gurdev Singh, Sarpanch of Dummana.

Others present included Surinder Singh Morinda, Harjinder Singh Dummana, Harjinder Singh Morinda, Sewa Singh Mundia, Parminder Singh Bhiura, contractor Jagtar Singh Surtapur, Sohan Singh Dummana, Bhajan Singh Shergill, Jagjit Singh Gill, Harnam Singh Kiri and Bhupinder Singh Bajrur, besides a large number of party leaders and workers.

The information was shared with the media by party Media In-charge Tejinder Singh Pannu, who was also part of the delegation.
