Bucharest, October 7, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Three Indian nationals rescued after the commercial vessel MV Royad Mammadov came under attack in the Black Sea are recovering in Romania, with two staying at a hotel and the third receiving treatment at a hospital in Constanța, the Indian Embassy said.

A representative of the Indian Embassy in Romania visited the three crew members and assured them of all necessary assistance to facilitate their safe and early departure from the country. The Embassy said all three are in stable condition.

The third Indian national is undergoing treatment at Constanța County Hospital, while the other two have been accommodated at a hotel. Essential items, including mobile phones, were arranged through the shipping company’s local agent. Indian food was also organised through a local Indian restaurant.

The Embassy representative met local police authorities, the shipping company’s agent and the doctors treating the injured crew member to coordinate further assistance. The mission said it remains in close contact with the relevant authorities and continues to provide necessary support.

The development follows the Ministry of External Affairs’ condemnation of the attack on Tuesday. The MEA said two foreign seafarers were killed and some crew members, including three Indians, were injured. The injured were rescued by Romanian authorities and taken for medical treatment.

The MEA thanked the Romanian authorities for their swift response and said India was seriously concerned over attacks targeting commercial shipping and seafarers.

It said attacks on commercial vessels in international waterways were undermining global commerce and the welfare of people worldwide, while reiterating India’s call for dialogue and diplomacy to end ongoing conflicts.

The Indian Embassy had earlier confirmed that the three Indians were members of the MV Royad Mammadov crew. It said one had been injured and was receiving medical attention, while the mission remained in close contact with hospital authorities.

The Embassy also said India’s Ambassador to Romania, Manoj Mohapatra, spoke with the Indian nationals receiving treatment at Constanța County Hospital and confirmed that they were in good health.
