Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) co-convener Ashutosh Ranka has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the Rajasthan government following an alleged assault on party activists who had gone to inspect a government school in Rampura-Kanwarpura village near Sanganer.
Ranka has demanded the immediate arrest of those allegedly involved in the incident and sought the resignation of Rajasthan Education Minister Madan Dilawar. He warned that the CJP would launch a statewide agitation if the demands were not met.
According to Ranka, CJP activists had visited the village to assess the condition of a government school which, he alleged, has been operating from a buffalo shed for several years. He said the team had conducted a similar visit last year and found that the situation had not changed.
Ranka alleged that when the activists reached the location on Friday, people associated with the BJP were already present and the team was attacked. He claimed that vehicle windows were smashed, mobile phones were damaged and a woman activist was assaulted. He also alleged that his shirt was torn during the confrontation.
Ranka further claimed that one member of the team suffered a fractured arm and that the activists were subjected to stone-pelting. He alleged that women members were also targeted and accused the police of failing to intervene despite being informed.
“Our activists were attacked despite the police being informed. The windows of our vehicles were smashed, mobile phones were destroyed, a female activist was assaulted, and even my shirt was torn,” Ranka said.
Addressing Dilawar, Ranka said the government had 48 hours to arrest the accused and withdraw the order restricting public inspections of schools. He warned that failure to act would lead to an intensified agitation across Rajasthan and said the CJP would also seek the Education Minister’s resignation.
The CJP alleged that the confrontation began after villagers objected to the activists’ presence and prevented them from entering the school premises. The situation reportedly escalated after Ranka arrived at the spot.
