Delhi Police arrest Nigerian national with 8.43 grams of amphetamine

New Delhi, August 21, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

The Dwarka District Police have arrested a 26-year-old Nigerian national, who was already a proclaimed offender in a previous narcotics case, and recovered 8.43 grams of amphetamine from his possession, officials said on Friday.

The arrest was made by the Anti-Narcotics Cell during “Operation VISTA 1.0”, a special drive aimed at verifying foreigners who have overstayed in India and checking suspicious persons staying in hotels.

The operation was launched on the directions of the Delhi Police Commissioner. Under the supervision of Dwarka Deputy Commissioner of Police Kushal Pal Singh and ACP Operations Cell Subhash Malik, the Anti-Narcotics Cell was tasked with tracing overstaying foreign nationals and conducting checks at hotels across the district.

On August 11, a team led by Inspector Satish Kumar Yadav used technical surveillance and human intelligence to trace and apprehend a foreign national from a hotel in the Mohan Garden area.

The accused was identified as Kingsley Eze, son of Eze and a resident of Anambra State, Nigeria. Police said 8.43 grams of amphetamine was recovered during his personal search. The substance falls under the intermediate-quantity category under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

An FIR, No. 205/2026, was subsequently registered at Mohan Garden Police Station under Sections 8 and 22 of the NDPS Act.

During questioning, Eze reportedly told investigators that he had entered India in 2019 on a business visa. Further verification revealed that he had been declared a proclaimed offender in connection with FIR No. 940/2022, registered under Section 22 of the NDPS Act and Section 14A of the Foreigners Act at Nihal Vihar Police Station.

Police said a court declared him a proclaimed offender on May 30, 2026. He had allegedly been absconding in a previous case involving the supply of heroin while staying at a hotel in the Mohan Garden area.

The Dwarka Police said the recovery was part of its continuing anti-narcotics campaign under the slogan “Nasha par Lagam, Desh ko Salam”.

Further investigation is underway to trace the source of the amphetamine and identify any wider drug network linked to the accused.
