The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) on Friday alleged that the case involving the death of a 26-year-old woman in a Hyderabad road accident was suppressed because of the “political proximity” between Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
YSRCP national spokesperson Karthik Yellapragada alleged that the case involving Jana Sena Party Rajya Sabha MP Lingamaneni Ramesh’s son, Lingamaneni Sanjush, was kept out of public attention after the accident.
He claimed that although the FIR had been registered several days earlier, there had been no public statements or discussion about the case. “It has been five days since the case was registered. Until now, the news has been suppressed,” he said, alleging that the political relationship between the two Chief Ministers was behind the silence.
Yellapragada demanded justice and compared the matter with a case involving the son of former YSRCP minister Seediri Appalaraju. He alleged that Appalaraju and his son had been jailed due to political vendetta, while the case involving the Jana Sena MP’s son was allegedly suppressed.
Cyberabad Police on Thursday said they had booked Sanjush, 21, for allegedly causing the death of Bharathi Mukhi in a road accident in Hyderabad.
According to police, Mukhi, a sales executive at a store in a mall in Madhapur’s IT corridor, was crossing the road opposite the mall on August 16 when she was allegedly run over by an Aston Martin. She suffered a severe head injury and was taken to Apollo Hospital in Jubilee Hills, where doctors declared her dead.
Police identified Sanjush as the driver and said he was taken into custody the same day. “Drunk and drive” and drug tests were conducted, while blood samples were sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory for analysis.
A case under Section 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), relating to causing death by a rash or negligent act, has been registered at Madhapur Police Station.
Lingamaneni Ramesh is a Rajya Sabha member from Andhra Pradesh and belongs to the Jana Sena Party, headed by Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan.
