Maharashtra Minister Nitesh Rane on Friday accused Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke of making remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi that, according to him, reflected a “Pakistan script”.
Speaking to reporters, Rane alleged that abusive remarks against the Prime Minister were rooted in a politics of hatred and claimed that Dipke was not speaking independently but was voicing views linked to jailed JNU activist Umar Khalid and his supporters.
“If someone is making such abusive remarks against the Prime Minister of India, then their script must be coming from Pakistan,” Rane said, adding that he believed those supporting Khalid from Pakistan were behind the alleged messaging.
Rane further alleged that issues such as NEET and the functioning of the Election Commission were being used to mobilise people and create unrest. He claimed the objective of such efforts was to create “anarchy” in the country.
The remarks came amid the CJP’s protest in Mumbai seeking the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The party has also raised concerns over the Special Inquiry Report (SIR) process and demanded repeal of the Election Commission Act, 2023.
Separately, Rane spoke about India’s maritime sector at an event marking the 65th anniversary of the Shipping Corporation of India (SCI), where Union Shipping Minister Sarbananda Sonowal was present. Sonowal, at the anniversary event, called for SCI to contribute to India’s maritime self-reliance and shipbuilding ambitions.
Rane said the occasion was a matter of pride and stressed the importance of decisions being taken for the future of the maritime sector.
“India’s maritime journey is one of the most promising journeys in the coming future. Under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi Ji, the maritime sector is just going to grow and is going to achieve new heights,” he said.
