India’s men’s golf team finished sixth at the Asian Games 2026 after the conclusion of the fourth and final round at the Kasugai Country Club East Course in Nagoya, Japan, on Saturday. Indian golfers Veer Ahlawat and Saptak Talwar also secured tied-sixth finishes in the individual competition.
The Indian team, comprising Ahlawat, Talwar and Yuvraj Sandhu, finished with an aggregate score of 18-under 542. China claimed the team gold with 28-under 532, followed by South Korea with 26-under 534, while hosts Japan secured bronze with 23-under 537.
In the individual event, Talwar carded rounds of 66, 68, 71 and 66 to finish at nine-under 271, matching Ahlawat, who recorded scores of 71, 68, 65 and 67.
Talwar’s final-round four-under 66 featured six birdies and a double bogey, while Ahlawat’s three-under 67 included five birdies and two bogeys. Sandhu finished tied 24th at one-over 281 after carding a final-round even-par 70.
South Korea’s Joohyung Kim won the individual gold medal with a total of 18-under 262. A three-way playoff was required to decide the remaining medals after Japan’s Kazuki Higa, Thailand’s Sadom Kaewkanjana and China’s Wenyi Ding finished tied at 15-under 265. Higa secured silver, while Kaewkanjana took bronze.
India, however, enjoyed a landmark performance in the women’s golf competition, where Pranavi Urs won the individual gold medal, becoming the first Indian woman golfer to achieve the feat at the Asian Games.
Urs carded rounds of 66, 63, 66 and 70 to finish at 15-under 265, one stroke ahead of the chasing field. Her final-round even-par 70 included three birdies and a triple bogey.
Urs’ performance also helped India win silver in the women’s team event alongside Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar. India finished with a total of 14-under 546, eight strokes behind gold medallists China.
Before the 2026 edition, India had won seven Asian Games golf medals, including three gold and four silver.
