The Congress on Friday announced a reshuffle of its Uttar Pradesh unit, appointing senior leader Aradhana Misra Mona as the new President of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) with immediate effect.
The party also named Lok Sabha MP Imran Masood as Working President of the state unit. Devinder Nishad and Alok Prasad have been appointed Senior Vice Presidents of the UPCC. The appointments were approved by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge.
The changes replace Ajay Rai as the state Congress chief. The party acknowledged Rai’s contribution during his tenure leading the Uttar Pradesh unit.
In another organisational decision, Kharge approved the appointment of Chaudhary Virendra Singh as the Leader of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, with immediate effect.
The reshuffle comes as the Congress works to strengthen its organisational structure in Uttar Pradesh. Misra Mona, a senior party leader and former CLP leader, will now head the state organisation, while Masood will assist as Working President. The Congress’ current official list also identifies Misra Mona as UPCC President and Masood as Working President.
The party has directed its leaders and workers in Uttar Pradesh to extend cooperation to the newly appointed office-bearers and work under the new leadership.
The appointments mark a significant change in the party’s state-level organisational structure, with the new team set to take charge with immediate effect.
