Mumbai, October 2, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)
Tension briefly gripped Mumbai’s Shivaji Park on Friday when a group of unidentified individuals wearing saffron mufflers entered a protest organised by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) and raised “Jai Shri Ram” slogans.
The situation remained under control after the Mumbai Police swiftly intervened and escorted the group away from the protest venue, averting a possible confrontation.
The CJP had organised the demonstration at Shivaji Park in Dadar to demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The protest was held under the campaign slogan “Gyanu Its Done Bro” and was attended by a large number of young men and women, along with other prominent participants.
The protesters raised three key demands — the immediate resignation of Gyanesh Kumar, a thorough investigation into the Special Inquiry Report (SIR) process and repeal of the Election Commission Act, 2023.
During the demonstration, the unidentified group wearing saffron mufflers entered the protest site and began chanting “Jai Shri Ram”, creating tension among those gathered and leading to a brief standoff.
Police personnel deployed at the venue promptly segregated the group from the main gathering and escorted them away from the area. The intervention helped restore calm and prevented the situation from escalating into a major clash.
The political or organisational affiliations of the individuals who raised the counter-slogans were not immediately confirmed.
