Bollywood superstar Salman Khan arrived at his brother Sohail Khan’s residence in Mumbai to take part in Ganpati celebrations, continuing his family’s annual tradition of welcoming Lord Ganesha.
Salman was dressed casually for the occasion and was seen wearing the distinctive headgear that has featured in several of his recent public appearances. The accessory is reportedly being used to conceal his look for his upcoming film.
Actor Pooja Hegde, actress and television personality Neha Dhupia, her husband and actor Angad Bedi, and social media personality Orry were among the other guests at Sohail Khan’s residence.
Ganeshotsav has long been an important family tradition for the Khans. Salman and his family have regularly celebrated the festival with prayers, aarti and gatherings involving relatives and friends.
The celebrations also reflect the family’s multi-faith background. Salman’s father, veteran screenwriter Salim Khan, is Muslim, while his mother, Salma Khan, was born Sushila Charak into a Hindu family. His stepmother, Helen, is Christian. The family has traditionally embraced different religious traditions, with Ganpati celebrations becoming an annual occasion for togetherness.
On the professional front, Salman Khan is gearing up for his upcoming film Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace, directed by Apoorva Lakhia.
The film is based on the Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese troops on June 15, 2020, during the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic. The confrontation took place in eastern Ladakh amid a broader border standoff along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
The Galwan clash became one of the most serious confrontations between Indian and Chinese forces in decades and has remained a significant episode in the India-China border dispute.
